What Is Free Cooling?
Free cooling systems work by using the presence of naturally cooled water or air as opposed to traditional industrial refrigeration. When used with higher temperature processes, low ambient air is used to cool process fluid using fans instead of refrigeration equipment. When using water, nearby water sources such as lakes, rivers, and oceans can be used as opposed to refrigerating a closed-water loop with a chiller.
